FAQ's

Do you accept my insurance?

We do not bill or accept insurance for routine primary care services. Instead, we use a simple membership model with a flat monthly fee that covers most of your primary care needs.

That said, we encourage patients to have some sort of coverage so that you can still use your insurance for things outside our scope—like specialist visits, hospital care, imaging, or prescriptions.

If you have specific questions about how your plan works with DPC, we’re happy to help you think it through.

Is this a concierge practice?

Not exactly. While DPC and concierge medicine both focus on stronger doctor–patient relationships and improved access, there are key differences.

DPC uses a simple, affordable monthly membership and does not bill insurance for routine primary care.

Concierge practices often charge higher retainer fees and still bill insurance for visits, meaning surprise bills may still occur.

Our goal is to make high-quality, relationship-based care accessible—without the complexity and cost often associated with traditional concierge models.

But what if I have "good" insurance?

Even with "good" insurance, many patients still face long waits, rushed visits, and disconnected care.

Simply put, we offer a level of access and hospitality that no traditional doctor’s office can offer. Ask yourself:

  • Do you have your doctor’s phone number?

  • Can you be seen when you. need to - and by your actual doctor?

  • Does your visits last longer than 10 minutes?

  • Are your messages and calls returned quickly?

  • Have you ever gotten a surprise medical bill or avoided care due to hassle or high cost?

  •  Are you bouncing between urgent cares, specialists, the emergency department, and various tests without any answers or help connecting the dots?

  •  Does your current primary care experience leave you feeling like just another number?

Stone Oak DPC can resolve these frustrating realities of the traditional system, leading to better health outcomes.

What if I'm healthy and don't visit the doctor often?

That’s actually the best time to have a DPC relationship.

Staying healthy is easier—and often less expensive—when you have a physician who knows you and can help catch issues early.

Your membership isn’t just for sick visits. It gives you easy access when questions come up, support for preventive care, and a trusted physician who understands your health over time. And if something unexpected does happen, you won’t be starting from scratch—you’ll already have a doctor who knows you and can help right away.

What if I don't have insurance

No problem!

We can care for you regardless of your insurance status and can help coordinate discounted self-pay options for labs, imaging, and other non-primary care items.

That said, we recommend having some form of catastrophic coverage for the "what ifs" and can help coordinate your care no matter your situation.

Is Dr. Hatherall available 24/7

Dr. Hatherall is extremely dedicated to her patients and offers responsive, high touch care, usually replying within a few hours during routine business hours. If you need to be seen, we can almost always offer evaluation and treatment the same or next business day. Unfortunately, no doctor can be available 24/7. As a wife and mom of two young children, Dr. Hatherall typically reserves nights and weekends for her family and responds to non-urgent messages when the office reopens. Upon enrollment, we will review best practices for communication, including what to do if concerns come up after-hours and on weekends.
